When are notifications sent? Do they contain sensitive information?
When are notifications sent? Do they contain sensitive information?
Notifications are only sent when both a notifier is configured to receive security notifications and a change in the security status of a device is detected. This occurs when a new vulnerability is detected, or when a previously detected vulnerability is no longer detected.
Notifications do not contain any sensitive information which may be used by potential attackers. The hostname and IP address of the device are not displayed. Only the user-supplied label of the device appears in the email.

Can a scan bring down a server?
Can a scan bring down a server?
All Alertsite scans use passive techniques to identify vulnerabilities, usually using the "banner" or self-advertised versions of software your device is running. These scans appear as approximately five or six simultaneous users. For smaller network deployments, where bandwidth or other resources are limited, it is recommended that scans be performed during non-peak, or non-business hours.
